Question Power Steering Question

Okay so recently I was going through the woods (mud, water, ruts, etc.) I had to go pull my buddy out. I had my truck in 4wd to pull my buddy out and got him out no problem. Ever since then though its been hard to turn my truck. It started out as kind of stiff when turning and now its gotten to the point where it is darn near impossible to turn. I cant even drive it in the city anymore. Fluid was a little low but not empty. pump works, serpentine belt is fine, no leaks. Any Ideas as to what the problem is? Could it just have been the rack and pinion gradually going bad and me going through the mud just a coincidence? Let me get some more peoples input.

Did you put a pressure analyzer on the pump to verify flow and pressure? Is the belt slipping? The pump shaft can also be broken and the pulley and belt will stay on and appear to operate normally. Put a pry bar behind the pump pulley and attempt to push it away from the engine to verify the shaft isn't broken.
