Default wheels spacers how big should i go?

i have a 08 ram 1500 with 20'' rims of a 2009 five spoke. i want a more aggressive wide stance but dont wanna change my rims out. i em a mechanic by trade and understand wear and fatigue on the frontend that wheel spacers can cause but ive found wheel and hub centric spacers just wondering if i should order the 1.5'' spacer or just go big with a 2''. let me know what u think the truck is body lifted 3in as in just needs to be a wider stance.

Do you want to stay legal or you don't care? That is a big question to ask. If you've got the pocket style fender flares then you can do the 2" and you'd be iffy, if no flares or the regular flares then you'll only want the 1.5 and you'll be sticking out the side regardless. I've been pulled over before so the cop could check my wheel-lower body panel height as well as how much wheel stick out I have. The sherrifs in Ponoka are really bad for it.

As a tech you can do the swap no problem, but I might suggest red loctite on the hub side of the spacer and proper torquing on the wheel side. Done it for years on the boss' long base jeep running a 6" lift, 2.5" spacer on 35s and never had an issue once and he crawls that thing regularly.

I have no plans for flares haven't had any issues in Edmonton and my co worker has super swampers that are almost a foot outside his body, loctite is a must no doubt. I think my best bet is 1.5 just hope are as noticeable as aftermarket rims

What types of spacers do you guys recommend, like a brand. I've been looking at doing this also.

Brand isn't so important as making sure it's billet and hub-centric. There aren't too many companies out there that make them properly, you just need to avoid the cast ones.

Here's the company that co-workers order from for their needs, it's canadian for those that are up our way. Now, they are all dealing with HD and get the 8-lug pattern, so look for the 5x5.5 pattern for the 1/2 ton.

1.5 should do the trick then. There are alot of nice aftermarket rims out there...but can be pricey.

As far as brands go that's not important what's important is u find HUD centric and wheel central, so I'm short it needs to fit the hub perfect and have the matching hub but into the spacer to mate the rims. I will save this thou I don't not recommend spacers for the average person, they require retorquing and proper care and attention. I will be doing them as a mechanic and will be using not red but blue loctite and retoque the spacers every 10000km. As tires should be rotated anyway. If u search wheel spacers in this forum other users have posted links to Site that have hub and wheel centric spacers
