Default Inertia Eagle Cams

I was wondering if anyone is running the 09+ Eagle cams Inertia Motorsports offers. I was looking to put one in my 2012 Ram. I understand it cannot be tuned as of yet, but they do not seem like radical cams. I am looking for a cam within the 2,000-6,000rpm range and maintain drive-ability for now. I was also wondering if valve springs are an absolute must. I will be running one of these cams with ARH Longtubes. Here are the specs.

Spartan Eagle:
212/216 Duration
115 LSA
Lift is in .560" range on each lobe

Crazy Jay Eagle:
208/210 Duration
115 LSA
.545"/.560"

Baby Spartan Eagle:
204/208 Duration
115 LSA
.531"/.545"

If you're looking for a cam that won't require tuning, you're pretty much stuck with the crazy jay and possibly the baby spartan, but you'd need to talk with Stu about it first. The only cam I know that guaranteed won't need custom tuning is the 6.1L cam, but even that would need upgraded springs. You will have to upgrade the springs regardless of whatever cam you get. How are you planning to deal with the vvt with no tuning?

so from what their website shows the cams all have to have pushrods but can be driven without a tune but its not reccomended.

These are new cams for the eagle vvt engine. They are designed around the vvt system. The new cams are crazy jay "eagle" and baby spartan "eagle" derived from the 08-down crazy jay and baby spartan cams. The names are the same, but with eagle added on the end. I'm sure they would function with the vvt but wouldnt' be optimal until tuned.

A guy on youtube made 360rwhp/390rwtq with a spartan max cam, custom tune, cold air intake, catback, and catless mid-pipe on an R/T. If that's true, it's impressive considering a stock R/T puts down around 290rwhp/315rwtq

I'm talking about an 07 Magnum R/T 5.7. I figure the new Hemi will do slightly better.

^^If it's the same one I'm think of, that particular vehicle also had a '10 pcm swap with custom tuning.

I'm well aware of the origins of the Inertia cams as I happen to have a super spartan/crazy jay custom 114lsa grind; the names are for the lobe lift and duration and it's how they differentiate them, just like Comp has their number system. In the last few LX builds I've seen done, the vvt cams need a proper tune, even with a cam with the ring gear installed. I'm not saying it won't run when installed, I'm just saying that you're leaving a lot on the table by doing a cam swap without properly tuning it and you won't see nearly the gains you would if you had tuning ability.

This is just my opinion, but until tuning is available or you're willing to do a '10 pcm swap, it's going to be extremely difficult and potentially detrimental to your engine if you start trying to do major performance mods.

*EDIT* If you're talking about a pre-eagle magnum R/T with those mods, then yes, the new motor will see much beter results, the eagle heads flow lots more air compared to the pre-eagle heads.

I dont think a PCM swap will work for the 2012... Not real sure the only reason is because of the 6-speed if you do swap it will make the 6-speed into a 5-speed or not work at all, again its just a theory. Not facts... I know that the 45RFE and the 54RFE are the same transmission just with different PCM Tuning... If you use a 54RFE TRANS witha 45RFE PCM it will turn the 5-speed into a 4-speed?
