Default Need some input here, please. 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 v8 Slt.

I recently ran out of fuel on the highway the other day. Had a friend come out with 4 gallons of gas, put the gas in, and when I started the truck it didnt seem like it was running right. I went to the gas station put another 20 bucks in, still not running right. Checked fuel pump fuse, checked the relay by switching another fuse in its place, still nothing. Could I have a clogged filter? Could the fuel pump be bad? I start the truck up and it just stalls out. Need some help here, don't know much about mechanical stuff on these trucks just electrical work.

Welcome to the Z. The problem with injected systems is when you run them dry they tend to suck up all the nasty stuff in the bottom of the tank and it gets sent everywhere.

Could be clogged filter or injectors or both. Most likely the filter is in the tank with the fuel pump, which means dropping the tank because it comes in through the top. Not to hard to do if the tank is empty, but a real pain if its not.

As for the injectors, I don't know how to clean those out other than running some fuel treatment like SeaFoam through the system. In fact before I did anything, I'd SeaFoam it. You can get it at your local parts store.

We have a lot of forums for all kinds of topics, so you shouldn't have any problems finding a place to post questions.

We LOVE pics of Rams.

Here's how to post them: http://www.ramforumz.com/forumdisplay.php?f=73

I say run the fuel tank down to 1/4 tank or so then seafoam that beast good that way you suck up and shootout nothing but injector cleaner. Thats what I did , but I also seafoamed thru my throttle body at idle, & after a few minutes off I shotout gunk out the tail pipe while driving it hard(wot) that really cleaned her up good.

Thats just my opinion.

Not sure where you're located but NAPA or the dealer is a great source for OEM parts.
