I just traded my 2011 mega cab gasser for a 2012 mega cab diesel, best move ever!! forget the gas mileage and just feel the power, it never ends! but getting to the mpg's it started off slow and after 1100 miles and 2 deletes, it gets 16mpg with 35's and a 3.5'' lift. They say as the truck gets more broken in the mpg will improve and in the short time of owning it, it went from 13mpg to 16, of course with the help of the deletes and a tuner. But again the power and knowing you have all that torque and horsepower at your disposal....priceless.

having owned a 1/2 ton pickup, a durango with the 5.2L magnum, and driven a couple 3/4 ton suburbans, i have to say in my honest opinion, i have never been happier with a purchase as i have with my 01 R2500 with the 5.9L Cummins diesel.
I live in Homer, AK. which is about 220 miles from Anchorage. I have yet to have a truck with a gas V8 that could do the trek in less than 5/8 to 3/4 of a tank. With my diesel, i can do the same trip with a mere 1/4 tank of fuel. take into account that when things break down, they are way more expensive to replace, but they seem to last allot longer than the gasoline engines.
all in all, i am more than happy with my purchase. I hope that if you decide you want a diesel that it makes you as happy with the purchase as i was with mine.

forgot to mention, i went from a 265/75R16 set of tires to a set of 33x12.5R16.5s and havent really noticed any real decline in my fuel mileage.
