Default Navigation update

I got a notice there is an update for the navigation system in my RER 730N
radio. Has anyone else purchased this update, is it worth the $150 bucks for the update and do you get anything besides the new maps with the updates?
This is the only complaint I have about my truck for the amount of money I paid for the truck it should have free map updates. I have a Garmin gps unit I only paid $200 dollars for and it has free lifetime updates.

First of all call the website that i will be posting
find out when the Maps will be next updated, then decide if you want to wait awhile
you should check what the last update was, you look in your Menu for that

they tell you what the cost is $149 ??
they don't tell you until you are ready to buy that it does not include taxes & shipping, something like $178 total

You will get 2 CDs, 1 for the new mapping, the other is a radio firmware update
you will also get a pamphlet with installation instructions
FOLLOW those instructions to a T or you could lock up your radio don't ask
there will also be prompts on the radio screen
it is not done upgrading UNTIL it says so, it may look like it is not doing anything but it is
do Not take out the key until it is completely finished

here is the site
http://www.navigation.com/is-bin/INT...layWelcomePage

don't update more then every 3 years at least

Good Luck

Thanks GTYankee for the info.
Still ticks me off that I have to pay for these updates when this system doesn't have near as many features as my Garmin.
If it wasn't for having to hook up and unhook my Garmin every time I would use it.
