Default Not impressed with the ecoboost

This is the second ecoboost i have pulled around and did a tire repair or oil change or whatever on in the last couple of weeks and both seem to have the same mileage on the fuel. I asked him what kind of driving he does and he said mostly city with a little highway between. For the price tag on that truck that sure isn't very good to me. I'll keep my ram any day!

Damn that's worse than I get if I drive 100% city. I agree I don't think they are meeting their claims. I don't think it's a POS though. Also not worth the money...

I also like that they give a trans temp gauge on the dash...that's kind of nice.

I love the EVIC but it sucks that you can only view one thing at a time. I wish you could select like 4 to be viewed at once, like engine temp, trans temp, mpg, etc...

^I do too. Lately I've been keeping IAT, Engine temp, Knock sensor timing retard, and I don't remember the 4th lol up on the flashpaq and trans temp up on the evic.

Yup, "M" is manual shift. There are up and down buttons on the console shifter or the column shifter like the Ram.

As far as MPG's, no the ecoboost is not that spectacular. Neighbor has one, and our driving habits are similar. He gets about 2-5 MPG better than my 2010 Ram Sport, and I've watched pretty closely too. Overall it is slightly better, but it wouldn't sway me enough to make a decision based solely on the better MPG.

For what its worth, his ecoboost FX4 rang in about the same $$$ as my Ram and they are similarly equipped. (He got a steal of a deal...) but on average the Ram is cheaper in purchase and finance rate. Would the savings on gas vs. better price average out? Probably. So I feel that it all comes down to personal preference.

In the end there is one basic principle; as HP goes up, so does fuel consumption. One way of making power might be slightly better than the other but it's unrealistic to believe that there will be massive differences.

Yea i am not impressed with them either. I almost bought a 5.0, instead got the ram. Had done a lot of research of the fords 2012s and did find out... Throw a tuner on those Ecoboosts. They have tuners that add 50+HP... Just like a diesel. ALMOST got me to buy one, and when I got my Ram, which was a quick 30 minute decision to drive next door to the RAM dealer since the Ford dealer was treating me as a child and did not want to take my 35k dollar written check Just cause I am young does not mean I can't afford it LOL, I did not know the RAMs could not be tuned... Oh well Still love the truck. Just know that slight mods to those Ecoboosts and they become true SLEEPERS for sure! Esp debadged ones... There is a guy down the street that has a debadged Eco boosts with about 1500 dollars in bolt-ons and he runs mid 12s all day everyday.

Long story short, if ford throws those turbos on those 5.0s v8s... I WILL BUY ONE THE DAY THEY HIT THE LOT! HAHAHA that'll be the day! Only reason why I did not buy one was because I wanted to step away from v6s...

No matter how de-badged the eco-boost is, you can always tell them from the rest...the license plate is not in the center of the bumper, its off to one side to allow for cooling. I think that it looks stupid and Ford should have re-thought that idea, but I'm just picky i suppose...
