I installed my Bakflip F1 today....love the cover so far. Was a little disappointed at first, as the left rail was sent to me damaged....right one was slightly damaged as well, same way, just much less....plus a small scratch on the topside....

Turns out that it doesnt affect the installation much....and cant seem to tell once its in place....but for the kind of money they get for these things, they should be PERFECT....

Still, really love the results and used it to go fishing this evening....

Yeah, the damage bummed me out...BUT....I emailed BAK last night at 1 am my time (10pm CA time).....got a reply in under 10 minutes!!!!

The person responding MUST be the owner, because I cant see a customer doing this.

Anyways, this person CCd another person in and told them to replace the rails for me.

This same person was also extremely fast in replying to emails i had before.

Thats amazing customer service.

Hopefully the rails will ship just as quick. Will follow up.

So all in all, very happy with the cover!

Not real sure about a couple things though....

When you fold the cover up and use the struts to hold it in place so you can drive, the cover leans up against the back window of the truck....doesnt seem like a good thing to do.....the person at BAK said "You have to utilize the rubber bumpers."

The instructions dont seem to indicate anything about that.

There were three strips of foam rubber (about 9" long each) included in my kit....maybe these the bumpers he is referring to??

In the instructions it says that Rams '02 and up need shims on the "bottom edge". My kit did not include any shims, but it doesn't seem like I need them. I do have factory bed rail caps on my 2012 Ram, so maybe that is why I didn't need them?

I did notice that the clamps dont seem to have a whole lot to grab onto when installed on the inside surface of the truck's bedrail...seems like that part of the clamp could extend further up into the rail if that makes sense....the cover seems secure enough though as-is, I guess time will tell.

I also did not use the loooong strip of foam rubber that was included even though my truck has a spray in liner.....couldnt figure out where it went.

The instructions were sharp -- a foldout brochure with color pics etc and generally speaking it was OK. But the specifics above were not addressed...so waiting to see what BAK says on those items.

Here is another tidbit.....

I just went to their site (www.bakliner.com) to see if there was any more info on my questions.

My virus protection went haywire and said their site is infected with a trojan!

I am going to let them know.....

What I have said all along is that the main reason that Macs have been "immune" from viruses is there relative lack of popularity.

"what?!? Are you insane?!" is what my Mac friends say....."Lots of people use Macs!" they add.

Well, sure, there have been some Macs sold.

But relative to the PC world, Macs are obscure. Kind of like the Nash Rambler compared to a Chevy Nova. Nashes were out there, and they are fine cars, but the user base was smallish.

Macs are not "better" than PCs. They are just globs of plastic, silicon and metal, and some small amounts of precious metals built into computers, just like PCs.

The "people" writing viruses and trojans etc are in it for the sheer numbers and for causing as much hassle for folks as possible. That is their goal.

The numbers of PCs out there makes it much more "profitable" than trying to attack Macs would be. The userbase is terribly small when looking at the number of people depending on PCs. That means much faster proliferation of virus and trojan programs, and faster profit for the creeps.

Well, now that Macs have become more popular and the PC world is much more proteced" today than ever (and their users much more cautious), the Macs are looking like a great way to accomplish something for the virus folks. The "Macs dont get viruses" attitude of many users makes it even more fertile ground.

If its got a chip in it, hackers and virus creeps will eventually mess with it...no one is immune.
