It would be great to see one person come up with something new to say, rather than "What he said" Once again, the purpose, and the title of this post is to inform, do not go off pavement with these steps, they are shit! But then again, judging by many of your pics, you guys have no idea what off roading is anyway, so go ahead and buy them.

Bro, you crashed your truck and you're mad. Blaming Smittybuilt because you bent their side step (not rock slider) by crashing your truck over a rock would be the same as blaming Ruger because you shot yourself with a gun they made.

If you think driving down a dirt road is "offroading" the only person who doesn't know what offroading is, is you.

Here is me having no idea what offroading is:

You fail hard.

Going down a dirt road isnt offroading in my opinion, only the activity done when these bent. And again, same shit everyone else has said.

What exactly did you expect everyone to say? You made a post stating that these steps were crap when you take your truck off road. You should of made the title of your post " I messed up while driving down a fire road" and then told people of your mistake/accident not come on here and bash a company who makes a perfectly good product as long as they aren't abused.

Either you're trolling all of us really hard (in which case you're winning) or you're refusing to listen what people are telling you here. Maybe there is a reason everyone is saying the same thing here? You came here to inform you say but you refuse to become informed.

You all are being a little hard on the OP, no? He didn't say he was rock climbing or that slammed into a big stationary rock, just that there was a big rock on the dirt road that caused his step to bend. Ironically the picture on their web site shows a Toyota with their step bar driving down what looks like a forest service road with two bad a** Jeeps behind it. It's marketed like an off road accessory:

http://www.smittybilt.com/product/index/1.htm

Maybe his expectations for the product were too high but his point is correct. Don't buy a cheap nerf bar if you're going off road.

Full disclosure, I sympathize with the guy because I once tore up an OEM step on my ford against a pretty light piece of PVC pipe. Sure I hit it, but damn...

Im not an offroad expert but the times I went I learned something every time. There was a thread on this forum I can't find but I went through the some real rough terrain and that was MUD. Here is a pic and lets just say if it wasnt for my steps my rocker panels and doors would of been bent even though it was just mud. I had to use a HI-Lift jack if that's the right name for it and some wooden boards to get myself out lets just say it was a crazy trip but fun. I had some help from a member on this forum as well. I'm just trying to help you out brother I appreciate the inform about smittybuilts steps but like many of the members on here said theres no reason to blame smittybuilt cause you went over a rock and it bent the step. I am pretty sure when you bought these steps in the description it did not say built for offroad or can withstand the weight of your truck over a rock. I hope everything works out for you and good luck down the road. Be safe and god bless.
