oh no doubt, I was just saying that if I'm gonna spend 200 bucks on regular ones, I'd rather spend 200 on ones that light up lol

I think I know where you're going with this.... We got some for the wife's Challenger, but mostly because they look cool :

You can get them with custom lettering. PM me if you're interested and I'll send you the link to the site where I got 'em

good luck

You got the idea ExCoastie. Ones that will protect the painted portion of the sill. Cool would be great but functional and not cheap looking is the goal.

They look even better in person. Not only are they not cheap looking, they're not cheap to buy either LOL... I think I paid $129 for the set above plus shipping. I'm not sure how much custom, one off sills would run you though...

I was Googling as always

Did you know that NISSAN sells an illuminated door sill/kick plate for their 370Z
I thought that it was cool, it only has a Z on it
I thought of this forumZ

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nissan-370Z-...sories&vxp=mtr
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
By the way, BT makes some of these plates
maybe we could get together & have them make some plates that read RAM or HEMI

If I was going to get something to protect the paint I would want to be able to see the paint. What's the purpose of 'protecting' the paint if you cover it with a metal plate and can not appreciate it? I would look into some sort of clear cover first. What about clear plasti-dip? if it gets messed up rip it off and put a new coat on, but you still get to see the nice truck color

I had 3M scotchgard on a couple of my old trucks that worked well. The urethane film will scratch but unless its a deep gouge it won't touch your paint. Was a must in Colorado when they put gravel down for snow but it was always on the hood, lights, and side mirrors. Should work for you if you can't find what you're looking for.

Understand. They use a ton of gravel (some almost 1/4" in size) on the roads here in Anchorage in the winter. I had the hood, front end, quarter panels, headlights and tailights all covered with 3m clear scotchgard film. I never gave thought to doing the door sills that way. That's probably going to be what I end up doing. Thanks all for your thoughts.
