Default Upgrade stock stereo to aftermarket Nav/DVD/Cam

Hey -

I have a 2011 Ram 1500 BigHorn with the basic non-nav stereo. I am looking to upgrade to one with a nav, rear view camera functionality and bluetooth, sat / dvd etc. like the version Mopar sells. I have looked at buying the Mopar one which is $1600, so after market sounds like a better deal, looking to see which after market model is most compatible and not $1600, if you know what I am saying. The stock version I have now has MP3, Bluetooth, Connect etc.

You all know your stuff, so I wanted to check and see if anyone knows of a model or type that is the easiest to integrate with all the base functions onboard with the Ram

I was interested in the upgraded HU when I bought my truck as well, but when I heard that $1600 quote from the dealer I started looking elsewhere.

This is the exact one I've got in my truck now and it blows away the upgraded Mopar system:

http://shop.alpine-usa.com/products/...0.0.0.0?pp=12&

There are other good models and brands out there, but Alpine makes a great quality product and the control and interface are very simple and straightforward which I'm a big fan of. My shop hooked me up with a distributor model as well, which ran me just under $1k.

Drop me a line if you have any other questions.

I got the same deck on boxing day for 50% off and love it. By the time I added all the toys to it I was around the $1000 mark installed. I would highly recommend this deck as it has a quick boot up time, easy to use and sub out options if you decide to do more to the stereo later on

Look into the kenwood stuff. Their GPS system is powered by garmin with a lifetime subscription, is easy to bypass the video in motion (just ground one wire, not a list of steps like other makers) and is compatible with everything the truck has (like the steering wheel controls etc) You can get a nice one online for 450-600 and everything needed to install for <$150 which includes the new mounting brackets and the PAC harnesses to hook into the stock harness and keep the SWC

That's is why i went with a KENWOOD EXCELON DNX9980HD DVD/ GARMIN GPS/IPOD/ NAVI / BLUETOOTH/HD. It does EVERYTHING!!! When looking for a camera i keep it kenwood and went with a cmos300. Very happy with the setup. Now looking for sub and front camera.

I was just about to suggest the Kenwood line. Also look into the PAC SWI-JACK, it will keep your steering wheel controls in tact.

Stay away from kenwood speakers/subs. They are overpriced for what they are

Im just going to throw this out there...

I was planning on the same thing a while ago, and found this site on here. This is a link to the exact stereo you are looking for. Everything that the factory unit has, because it is the factory unit. $1300 plus shipping. I got mine and it still had the protector on the screen. Mine even came with the sat antenna and lockpick installed. Maybe take a look and see if it's what you want.

Bonus is, you don't have to spend an afternoon chopping up the inside of your dash.
