Very nice opening Desert Ram.
As you know, I'm never short on words so here we go. . .

This weekend is rather special to me because... I have been on 24 hour call 7 days a week for the last 15 years and THIS will be the last holiday weekend I will ever be required to cover!
(keep this a secret but I intend on retiring this October) We'll see.

My wife tolerates my "job comes first" lifestyle because she works for a major utility and she too does 24 hour call, but only on select holidays & weekends, which is considerably better than my 24/7 no exceptions lifestyle.

Which brings us to...
As we get to post about our last big weekend of the Summer, I'd like to give a shout-out to those of you that have to work or do stand-by this weekend.
LEO's, pilots, railroaders, utility workers, dispatchers, food industry, military, and a lot of retail workers will be sweating their asses off this weekend to serve all the rest of us.
Thanks for doing it.
And Thanks for keeping everything up & running so the rest of us can party, travel, or simply enjoy our family at home!

Just wondering.

Getting started right. I hate missing college football today, but we all make sacrifices.

LOL
I have to smile at this being the last weekend of summer

Here in the southwest desert, we will see temperatures of 100F for another 2 months
Although, Labor Day the Desert comes alive again with Sand Buggies, bikes, etc.
They stop using the desert on Memorial Day, because of the extreme heat

I just got home from a 1500 mile trip to Arizona with the EcoDiesel. One stop on the way home on Friday was at an overlook north of Sky City, New Mexico. We were talking with some local indian pottery vendors there and I took a couple of shots of the City from the overlook, then I noticed the truck looked pretty good with the rocks in the background, so I got one of it. Can you tell it's really dirty?
