Thankz! I can't remember the brand name since I bought 'em 14 years ago @ a local 4x4 shop & I've only seen one other set, on a red '98.

Yea at first I thought they were the pocket style with simulated bolts, but then I looked closer and I noticed they weren't. Looks good man.

Thanx. I had not seen those before I went to the local 4x4 shop & I originally intended to get the diamond-plate aluminum running boards with the attached diamond-plate aluminum mudguards on either end, just to keep the body from getting scratched up since the tires extend out past the stock fenders. But I looked @ a set of those running boards & they drop down so far you lose a LOT of ground clearance -- I'd have bent those up in no time.

Salesman @ the shop understood my thinking & pointed to a Chevy 4x4 in the parking lot with the same type flares & asked do you like those? I said yes I do, but I've never seen any for a Dodge -- didn't think anybody even made 'em. He said I've got a set in the back if you want me to bring 'em out & he opened the boxes for one front & one rear. Then he & another guy held 'em up on 1 side of my truck & asked did I want 'em & I said yes -- I liked the look immediately & to me they blend in so well the truck looks like it came that way from the factory.

They do a fairly good job of keeping mud, rocks & such off the body, although the bottom portion of the doors get a lot of nicks & scratches -- but there's really no way of stopping that completely -- other than not driving! Those flares are designed to attach with just double-sided tape, but I've got a zillion little black panhead framing screws from doing metal stud framing & I used a few of those to hold 'em on, but on the inner part of the fenders where you don't see 'em unless you're really lookin' for 'em.

Makes sense. How much did you pay back then?

ORT, that's a nice sport. I'm a firm believer that the sport has always looked better generation to generation than their other model rams.

I just was ready for trying my hand at a lowered truck after having that lifted truck for a while. But she did always serve me well for the years I drove it.

I didn't think I could remember the price, but now that I think about gettin' 'em I do -- the front's were like $109 & the rears were $99 -- why they priced 'em individually like that I don't know. So basically $210.

I'd ordered a Sport in the bright blue color but back then the diesel engines were on back order & the black one was the only truck the dealer I dealt with could find that had all the equipment I'd ordered -- 1st dealer didn't even bother to look. So the black one isn't really a Sport model, I've just painted the lower part of the front bumper black but left the chrome & when a friend of mine with a black Sport replaced his rear bumper with a roll pan for that "smooth" look in the back, he gave me the Sport bumper. So from the sides & rear it looks just like a black Sport model & if I were to paint over the chrome up front it would be the same.

But I like it the way it is & I like the Sport package too, without extra stuff like the wide stripes my friend's Sport has. I've always been a "form follows function" guy -- if it doesn't perform some function, it doesn't need to be there, so take it off, or don't put it on to begin with !!
