OK so this is the problem I see with your ideal. If you just hook the HID kit up to just the reverse wire, and then put a switch on there, yes it should work just fine when you put it in reverse...BUT...this is the part im unsure of, when you turn the switch on , you will be sending power not only to the switched hot, but also to the reverse hot that comes from the (fuse box???) original source, which may somehow make the truck "think" that you are in reverse when you are not...please let me know if this makes sense, because Im not too convinced that it does LOL

The reverse light (halogen bulb) will be replaced with a plug and play HID kit, meant for the reverse light.
I understand why you're saying... But doesn't putting your shifter in reverse trigger the light/ car to think its in reverse?
Running a source to it and having the shifter not in reverse may be ok.
Hope it is.

I thinking of running a heavier gauge from the battery to split off for other connections....

Wow took me a minute to figure this one out. So you want to run a separate wire/switch to turn on your backup lights without actually having to put the truck in reverse and your worried if you do that and turn on the new switch that the truck will engage in reverse?

Honestly no I don't think that will happen...I don't know this for sure but the Park-Drive selector should be a relay that just moves the voltage to whatever you select that tell the truck what to be in (Drive, Park) what have you. I don't think putting power to a light will mess with the gear selector...it sure as hell doesn't on cop cars and I know they don't put strobe lights everywhere.

Good point, but Im not saying that it will put the truck in reverse, just might make the truck THINK that its in reverse, if thats possible...And if somehow it does think that its in reverse, what could happen???

Im not saying that it will happen, BUT, what if it does...I always try to think of the pros and cons...and right now all I can think of it the "worst case scenario"

55w, the 5k are just fine...I just wanted a little more blue tint...and when you have 55w it washes out a little bit of the color, so theyre technically 6k
