Default spectre or K&N?

Just got a 40 series on the ram, sounds beastly. Now to the intake.

Go a little cheaper with the spectre or all out with the K&N?

Honestly at that point I bet there is no real difference between the two. Ive run spectre filters on my street/strip car before and so no change in et/speed between running K&N filters, Spectre, or an open intake tube. All the runs werent in the same night but my car was consistent enough to know nothing made the difference intake wise. Id run the spectre and save yourself some money

Nothing wrong with spectre. Just watch to make sure the filter area is drawing in cool air.

Have you put on your intake yet? I'm in the same boat. Added an exhaust now looking to upgrade the air intake as well as looking into getting a programmer. Just wanted to see if you are happy with the results...

I too decided to try out the Spectre line drop in air filter for 20 bucks compared to the K&N 50 dollar drop in. The auto parts store rep was nice enough to put both side by side for physical comparison reasons. Identical in every shape, color, and form. I was sold and bought two Spectre drop-ins. As far as full blown CAI's, I've gathered some Ram owners are complaining of a little loss of low end grunt but overall, love the in cabin noise. I have experienced the small loss of low end umph on my older vehicles with CAI's and wanted to try the OE pressurized box with a drop in filter this time around. You gotta make it your own or as we old school wrenchers would say, "Don't do me, You do You"!

^is the spectre drop in a "dry" filter or oiled filter? I assume it's a reusable just like the K&N and others? $20 is a good deal.

Hello snrusnak, yes sir, Spectre drop in is red oiled and ready to install. It's pretty cool too as far as the history behind the Spectre brand.

Cool, I already bought an airaid but will keep it in mind for the future. I paid more than double that(although mine is a dry one). What do you mean the history?
