Default K & N Cold Air Intake

Thinking of putting the K&N intake system on my truck, the plastic so it doesn't retain heat. Anyone have any input on this? Good idea, bad?

From my research, the volant seems to be one of the better intakes for the trucks...

I had a K&N on my old cobalt, simular intake design for it and had a lot of issues with heat on it. Hot weather the car would bog down pretty bad, only after going to the K&N intake.

But members here seem to be happy with the K&N, so maybe i got a lemon on my old car? i dunno

Can't really go wrong with any of them, just some might yield slightly higher gains

I just put the K&N in last week. Still breaking the truck in so I won't be able to tell a difference from stock, however it sounds GREAT!

I have a K&N on my truck and I love it. A bit more power and it sounds / looks great. I actually had a G5 with one and it worked awesome for me. You can't get a lemon CAI its pretty basic. I would guess you had another issue going on. Installation or otherwise.

Whats your objective? Power, fuel economy, sound?

I have the 77 series in my Ram and love it... I am a huge advocate of K&N products. I have their filters and intakes in all my vehicles to include my two-wheeled ones...
