So as you may, or may not know, I was recently involved in a collision that totaled out my 2012 Ram 1500 Express, aka Spike. He was a great truck that I enjoyed very much. We had a lot of fond memories together, but their will be no more.
RIP - Spike
So back on August 1st, I decided that it was time to replace Spike.
I scoured the internet and dealer websites for a replacement and finally settled on a dealership in Georgia. I live around the Saint Louis so this was going to be a journey for me. I worked out all the numbers with the internet sales guy and bought a plane ticket to Atlanta.
Now let me fill you in on a story I was told before I made the trip to Atlanta. A friend of mine told me about the time he went to buy a vehicle from Texas. He flew to Dallas and the dealership went and picked him up. He signed the papers and left with his new vehicle. Well now the fun starts. He was on the interstate and noticed a vehicle to his left several lanes over, and that car started merging over towards my friend. They ended up side swiping my friend and then proceeded to exit the interstate. They then just kept on driving. Well my friend just kept following while he had the police on the phone... The police asked him where he was and he told them the best he could. They said, "STAND DOWN, and TURN AROUND". He refused, and they again told him to stand down. Apparently he was being baited and did stop and turn around. Who knows what could have actually happened if he would have continued to follow them.
So back to my adventure. After I arrived in Atlanta, the dealer picked me up and proceeded to the dealership. I signed all the papers and then waited for the finance guy. After about another hour, I was out of the dealership and on my to Franklin. You see, I travel quite a but for work, and this was one of those times where I had to be somewhere for the weekend.
Unlike my friend from above, my purchase and journey went way smoother. I was able to drive to Franklin Oh and then back home in the STL with no issues.
This new Ram is AMAZING! The only hiccup that I had was the dealer accidentally sold the truck that I put a deposit down on. They made up for it by finding another truck that had more options on it, and sold it to me for the same price!!
Here are some of the items I love most about my truck. The vented seats are amazing in this 90F+ heat. Having the extra room in this cab (crew cab coming from a quad cab) is amazing. Especially since I have a youngster back there. The Navigation and rear camera is pretty sweet. Not sure how I drove without it in the past. The keyless entry is well worth the money. It is super nice to just walk up to the truck and grab the handle, then push a button to start it up. Way more convenient.
So here is my mods list so far... I will get some pictures soon, I promise!
