Default It's time for a new cam

Well it's official, I'm only a week and a half out from my truck getting a whole new attitude. The performance shop has my parts ordered and my truck will be head to the shop next Wednesday. Being a QC, I decided to go with the Comp Cams Xtreme Energy XFI 260H-13 with 6.1 springs and pushrods. While there at the shop they will also install a new set of NGK plugs, install a Magnaflow Y-Pipe and swapping out my 3" SI/DO 2 1/2" Flowmaster Super 44 with a 3" SI/DO 3" Flowmaster Super 40 with the dump relocated back to right in front of the rear bumper. After all of the surgery has been completed, they will strap her down to their in floor dyno and given a custom Dyno Tune to my Diablo Sport Predator. Stacked with my other mods I am hoping that this will give my truck a whole new attitude.

What kind of power do you guys think I should expect? Will the changes/drivability change a lot? I'm hoping that the smile factor will be big when I push the go pedal.

I chose this cam for its torque characteristics because I just bought a 2012 Jayco White Hawk 27DSRL travel trailer this last weekend. It is a pretty big travel trailer but only weighs in at 5500 lbs dry weight. I am changing out my mirrors with the fold out style on the 3/4 and 1 tons as well as adding a Firestone W217602286 Ride-Rite Air Bag Kit. About to be hitting the highway for summer travel and want to make sure my goat is ready for the task.

Put a new stall in it (not much higher than stock) and the smile on your face will increase 10 fold after you get it back

I'm not sure what stock is. What do you recommend? I am dumb when it comes to torque converters and transmissions, so can you explain what a higher stall would do?

Stock is 2400-2600 IIRC? a good one would be 2600-3000 (depending on whats available, 2800 is the most popular i believe)

A new stall will just be a little tighter off the line and across the board and increase peformance and decrease slippage everywhere. It will increase shift firmness/confidence. Off the load without a load though it will feel lick you got shot out of a cannon compared to a stock TC though

awesome! how much did this all cost if you dont mind? and do you think that your flow master muffler will be free flowing enough for the cam?

When it is all said and done and out the door, I will be looking at just shy of $2,000. I'm not worried about the flowmaster being free flowing enough. I have a super 44 right now and have had super 40's on 2 of my prior trucks. I think it will breathe just fine with my BFI Intake, Fastman ported throttlebody & BBK Shorty headers. If there were a bottleneck in the exhaust system its the factory Y-pipe and catalytic converters. I'd remove the cats if they did not check them at inspection. I'm getting all of this done here in Lubbock, TX at TES Performance. They are a CMR Tuner and have an in floor dyno.
