Default Mileage Test

Took my first long distance trip with the new truck, which currently has 5072 miles on it.

We went from Lawrenceville, GA to Jekyll Island, Ga and used the same route there and back. This trip was a good one to check the mileage as about half the trip was on the interstate where we drove around 80 mph, and about half was on two lanes and four lanes where we were running between 45 and 70 mph.

On the trip to Jekyll, I drove using the default mode (Eco, shifter in "Drive") for the entire trip and I got 18.0 mpg.

On the return trip I bumped it over to "6" for the entire trip and got 18.8 mpg.

Good thing Ram spent all that money on the MDS.

I don't believe it, too many variables. The real way to test it is to have a nice long straight level road, such as in Texas, and use the same speed without speeding or slowing down to see if the MDS actually works. It's a no brainer, 4 cylinders to maintain the vehicle moving instead of 8 will save on fuel.

Hey, you don't buy a nice hemi truck if you're worried about the best gas milage on the planet. But with a 26 gallon tank, and not driving like a teenager all over the place, I am able to go 400 miles on a tank of fuel. I AM IMPRESSED!!

I only have 1,000 miles on my new Ram 1500 Crew Cab and I'm getting 21mpg on the highway at 55mph (30 mile drive). I have a G2 FlipBak cover, Volant CAI, Magnaflow 16869 exhaust. I love the sound of this truck!

18.8 mpg is still pretty good to me, i have had p/ups with 350 engines that got 10 to 12 on the hwy riding empty.

18.8 how do you do that? My 4x4 crew 1500 hemi with mds k&n filter and diablo tune barely makes it to 15 mpg´s lol. I do have 33" MT´S and a leveling kit though, but still from the factory the most i would see highway would be 16-17 i have no idea how you guys are averaging such high mpgs lol. I think my foot might be a little bit too heavy .

I could believe 18.8. I drive a 260 mile loop 6 days a week, pull a trailer for a hundred of those miles and hand calculated about 17. evic says 17.5, so off a little but close enough for me. I will admit I play keep the meter as far to the right as possible game with the evic.
