Default where does this vacuum line go?

'96Ram 1500 4x4 with 5.2 check-engine light is on for random (or maybe "ramdom") misfire. There's a rubber hose that runs from what I assume is the vacuum canister (mounted to frame near the fuel tank) to the firewall, just under the steering shaft. But it seems to end there; am I missing a section, and where should it attach?

I am only guessing
Look for a Charcoal canister
it may be nearer to the headlight

i searched some other forums & found this

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Charcoal "vapor" canister connects to the purge solenoid that is located on the rear drivers side of the manifold. It has 2 elbow connected hoses and a wiring harness connected to it. The capped off port in the manifold is very typical on these trucks.

Thanks. One end of this tube does connect to the charcoal canister; the other end is just open, not connected to anything, in the firewall area (under the steering shaft). It doesn't look right; maybe this is the work of the previous owner...or maybe something has fallen off? I did locate the vapor cannister solenoid valve; both vacuum ports are already connected to other things. => can any of you guys with similar powertrain (1996 5.2 liter) check to see if you have an open hose too?

Traced mine...

Canister to where you have it open...It continues straight up and tracels under the cowl in the engine bay to the passenger's side of the engine. At the back of the passenger's side valve cover it connects to a rubber "t".

From the rubber "t" the small line goes to the back of the intake (you're on your own from there. It's Sunday and I don't want to go any further).

The larger line travels the distance of the valve cover to the front and connects to a blue double "L" vacuum port.

If you don't find any plugged ports there let me know and I'll break out the soap and water when I'm done...but only for another Ram.

(Now I KNOW that one was relevant)

While i was reading from thar other forum
some people mentioned that their hoses ran down the drivers side all the way, while others ran over to the passenger side
