Default K&N drop in?

So, is it worth it? Have you guys noticed any difference over a stock air filter, or is it all hype? Thanks.

The biggest advantage of a K&N drop in filter is that you only purchase it once. They're about $50, where I think when I checked on the price of an OEM style filter it was about $30).

I've used them for years, on several different vehicles. I can't say that I've ever noticed ANY sort of performance increase though. It's supposed to be a better flowing filter, so based on that, then there much be some increase, though I don't think it's enough to notice.

I have had one for 3 years now. Haven't really noticed any gains but I do like the fact that I don't have to buy another filter for my truck. I live in a very dry and dusty place so I have made my money back two fold already without having to buy filters.

I have to agree with Excoastie and Ramguy...The bigest gain is the fact that all you have to do is check it and clean it when it gets dirty. Filters are not cheap anymore and it is a very easy process to clean and re-oil. I suspect that there is a better/higher flow rate over the OEM but not that much that I have noticed...

I bought a drop in one a few weeks ago for mine and think it did make a difference. My exhaust got louder (I have an magnaflow 18" and magnaflow Y-pipe) and I noticed it revs a little easier now. I don't think it made any difference in my gas mileage

I didn't notice anything, but I'll never have to buy an air filter again
