Default Horn sounds when locking doors

Whenever I lock the doors with the key fob, the horn sounds. I've tried several times following the owners manual to silence it. It doesn't seem work following those directions. Im wondering if I'm missing an obvious step?

Does this only occur when you lock the doors? Or does it occur when you open them as well... as if the "factory alarm" is not un-arming with the use of the key fob?

+++++EDIT----- After I read it, I realized my question may not make much sense. so I'll just offer my suggestions.

I do not have a 07 owners manual but I think it goes something like this....

A. Get in the drivers seat and buckle the seat belt
B. Turn on ignition to accessory, do not start the engine.
C. Let 5-11 seconds pass, then press and hold the lock button on the remote.
D. While continuing to hold the lock button, press the unlock button on the remote......
.........You should hear a chime
E. Turn off ignition key

OR Do you have an overhead console? If you do.. I believe it can be done from there... actually i think it HAS to be done from there, if you have one.

Hope this helps

I also do not have an '07, but I had an '08 prior to my current truck.

It's a matter of getting the timing right on going through the procedure outlined in your owner's manual. It may take a few times, but it does work.

I did this on my '08.

when all else fails, do a search here at the forumz, and I'm sure that you'll get several hits on this topic

good luck

Exco

I'll try that sequence, thanks! The steps in the manual are: when outside the vehicle, press & hold the lock button, then press the panic button, release both at the same time. I should try the panic button on the remote though, maybe it doesnt work.

I've tried several times, (in vain) to disable the horn upon locking the doors. (following the manual's instructions) & other suggestions. Im assuming it's not possible?

I once read somewhere (i think it was google) that there was a particular year of the 3rd gen trucks that you could not disable it. I guess it was 07?? Sorry man.

I have an '07 and tried to do what you are asking about. I fallowed the instructions to a tee with 3 different remotes. I could never get it to work. I finally gave up and said the heck with it.

I had my truck at the dealer to have another ignition key cut & programmed today, they disabled the horn sounding when locking the doors for me. They were nice enough to not charge me to do that.
