Default Why the difference in heights?

Or what I should say. What causes all the different stock ride heights for our trucks? As started in other posts my 2010 ram sits way to low from the factory. More so than just about any other ram I see on the road. There's an even bigger difference between my buddies new chevys and fords.

Mainly it's the different wheel/tire sizes. Also different springs on different cab sizes, 4x4's, etc.

Yeah I have the stock 17s right now, which i guess would make for a 1.5in difference from the 20s. That i get. And it is a 4x4,, it just sits more like it 2wd only. What springs would be different?

Well just because you have 17's doesn't mean your ride height is 1.5" different as compared to the 20's. The tire size matters as well. There is probably more like a 0.5" to 1" difference, not 1.5" in wheel/tire height alone.

I would think 4x4's would have stiffer/taller springs. Also, the larger cab length gives bigger springs in the back. Not sure on the front. There are actually a lot of factors. I know there are like a dozen rear spring combinations for the 4th gen 1500 model rams...

My brother has a 3rd gen big horn 4x4 with 20's and it sits much higher than my friends old 2wd laramie with 20's. Both quad cab. So the 4x4 and the model (laramie vs big horn) were the only real differences, but there was a big difference in ride height.

Are you wanting to change how yours sits?

Oh I definitely want to change the way it sits. At most I'd like a 4in lift on it and I was just going to go with the bilsteins up front to level it, but with my luck I'd be one of the people who got the wobble in the front end.
