Default Turned off MDS + cutouts=:)

So I had my electric cut-out installed on friday. Very happy with it. Sounds great, Its actually not too loud, and its sounds great to cruise with.

Now I drove about 200 miles this weekend. Most was in normal "D" (MDS Turning on when it wants) with the cut outs open. I normally get 19 MPG on the highway average, cut outs didnt seem to change that at all.

I took at trip tonight with MDS off (putting it in "D" and shifting it into 6th), with the cutout open. I was amazed to see this...

Over the 70 mile drive witch included some hilling back roads I got 24.8mpg average. I think I am in love. No more MDS for me.

Yeah MDS is kind of a joke. It not only sounds stupid but it doesn't help gas mileage. I didn't notice gains like you did but I didn't notice a drop in mileage either.

Truck sounds good BTW.

With MDS off and with the cut out closed I would average 17ish.

Its the combo of the two that gave me the huge bump.

I wonder when I get my cold air on the truck if it will go up anymore.

The 24.8, was that actual that you calculated or the EVIC?

Does that mean the cutout gave you a 7.8 gain in mpg?

Wow... I can't believe you were able to see that high of mpg! Here I have been doing everything to average 13mpg on highway (granted the grappler tires do not help, but they need replacing). So you are saying get rid of MDS and install cut out for optimal mpg. Just want to clarify

I have express, so no EVIC. I use a plug in ECOMeter, and it matched up with the math at the pump.
