Default clicking noise when turning

Took my truck in today for a clicking noise when turning from both wheels. The mechanic clearly heard my concern and swapped both my front tires and rims with a new truck on the lot and the noise went away. So know im waiting on two new chrome clad rims to come in and be replaced under warranty

usually a "clicking" noise from the front end when turning is a bad CV Joint, but if the tech fixed it with a rim and tire swap then that works too I guess

clicking noises when turning is usually on front wheel drive vehicles, when CV joints are bad

My issue was solved both Rims were replaced under warranty and the clicking is gone.

According to Dodge the clicking sound will start when the Chrome clad covers start to come loose from the rim.

That sounds possible. I remember old Cadillacs from the 80s doing that when their hubcaps got loose.

Clicking could indicate a wheel warranty problem and should be taken to the dealer for replacement. However, in many cases it is not the wheel, but the center cap. First thing I would do is try removing the caps and see if the clicking disappears. If so, re-install the caps and use some lubricant on them. I would also add that the dealer comment that the claddings are coming loose is not correct - in all my years in the industry not one wheel ever had a cladding come loose out of more than 15 million. If a wheel clicks it is likely caused by production tolerances of the wheel and cladding being out of spec - just a nuisance issue.
