Default Dodge spirit head gasket?

whats up guys.
I just got a call from my buddy who drives a 94 dodge spirit and he was saying that his coolant is disappearing. he said that it isn't leaking on to the ground so it has to be going somewhere. I asked him to check his oil and tell me if his oil was milky and he said no. He then looked in his radiator and said that the coolant in the radiator was all milky. so im assuming that oil has been getting into his coolant. now from the start he said he thinks its his head gasket (which it probably is) but why would his coolant be disappearing but his oil levels have been staying the same? He is sending me pictures and i will be posting them up here in a few minutes.

Sounds like a head or possibly a head gasket. Does it have an oil cooler?

Not to my knowledge I will have to do some more research for him. But I'm guessing no. I used to own one but I can't recall. If it was a head would you be able to tell visually?

Not really. I'd do a pressure test on the cooling system. You can drain the oil and leave the plug out. Pressure test the cooling system up to 15 pounds and watch for it to lose pressure. Check and see if it starts coming from the oil drain plug.

If it does then it could be the head gasket or the head. The only way to "visually" inspect the head is to remove it as far as I know.

I'd double check on it having an oil cooler or cooling lines going to the radiator. I had an S/10 not too long back that the "transmission was bad" checked the radiator and both side (trans and oil) coolers in the radiator were bad.

That's a good call, thanks I will let him know that. He is in Michigan and I am in Virginia so I'm trying to help him out remotely. I figured what better place to ask for help at than the Z.

It's a Sprint...have him juice it up a little and install a Briggs and Stratton 10 horse

If it does leak through the pan, he can buy some time with Lucas' Head/Gasket repair. Unhook and loop the heater lines to bypass the core and follow the instructions. Kept my friends Saturn on the road for another 2 yrs and got it back up to 4 cyls. It's about $30 a bottle.

I was actually doing some reading on stop leak and I read mixed reviews so that was going to be my next question. If it gets him another year I think he would be happy with with that. And that 10 horse would Deffinerly be an improvement!
