I replaced my fan with a v6 Efan from parts geek. I think it was 130 bucks and about 20 minutes from start to finish. It is not hard to do.

Here is the part number for the Efan 95963-06014378

There is a difference in size of the fans too

I also switched from a mopar CAI to a volant and changed to a standard mod fastman tb. I am +1.7 mpg from those two changes. I am not running 35's, I am on stock 20's

Someone mentioned 4.56 only being aftermarket. Would 4.10's not be the same for the 4x4 community? Would like to upgrade my gears at some point, but dont want any loud gear whine

The change between 3.92's and 4.10's are so minute that it wouldn't be considered an upgrade..logical upgrade is 3.55 to 4.10, 3.92 to 4.56's...if you got 3.92's to now, your wasting money jumping to 4.10's... and gear whine is the installers fault, properly set 4.56's are as quiet as any other gear but the installer has to be good...

Sadly I see and hear more issues with the tall gear installs regardless of the installer. Hell one friend of mine went through 3 sets of auburn and motive gears and all 3 had different finishes, some quite rough, and all made noise even after being installed at the gear center, pretty much the best place in calgary to have it done. Yes, its the installer's fault but the taller the gear, the more prone they seem to be.

As for cost, I priced out my 4x4 gear swap and was quoted $800 per diff, so, with gears and a tru-trac it is going to be $3k for mine.

mine don't whine..the 2 others locally to me that have them installed don't either (we used the same gear shop)...my very first set whined, but that was due to the installer. I pulled them out thinking they were bad and had a different place install a new set which didn't whine... I ended up sending my "bad" set to a fellow member on a different forum and he knew how to install them...he did on his truck and they don't whine for him at all...

Two things I learned about gear sets and noise are that the installer has to really be on his A game to get it right, and the vehicle owner has to break them in properly. Even the best installer in the world can't make a gear set quiet if the vehicle owner gets all excited about his new gears and does a full throttle burnout leaving the gear shop. Unfortunately, most lifted truck owners that get new gears like to 'try them out' before they have properly broken them in, and then (if they survive) they whine for life.....and so does the owner. LOL

i have 3.55's now. Did the leveling kit with some bigger and heavier tires. Im interested in going up to the 4.10's.

Just would like to know a good brand to go with and if i should just use a true-trac LSD.

Won't be doing any heavy offroading, just a truck for the street and the crappy weather we get.

My personal recommendation is the 4.56s. I have an '06, just lifted it and put 35" Toyos. I have stock 3.92 gears, and I can't even use 5th gear because its too high. I've been running in Tow/Haul mode to keep my rpms up and staying in the power band. I've done some calculating, and with the 4.56 gears and 35" tires, I should only run about 150-200 rpms higher than I was with stock 3.92s and the stock 275-60-20s. There are more factors that play into your mileage than just what rpm you are running at. For instance, when running in 5th gear at 70mph, my rpms are down around 1300. I'm hard pressed to keep the truck from attempting to downshift, even under light throttle pressure. When I do manage to keep it from down shifting, my mileage is crap. I averaged about 9mpgs (manually calculated with mileage and fuel consumption) when running normally, and 12mpgs when running in Tow/Haul. Even though I am running at higher rpms, the engine is not having to work as hard to keep a constant speed. Some engines have their "sweet spot", where at certain rpms, they are running the most efficient. My personal experience with my truck is that in the 2100-2300 rpm range, my hemi gets the best mileage. With my calculations, the 4.56 gears and 35" tires should put me right at 2200rpms at 70mph, which would be right in my "sweet spot".

Just my 3 cents.
