Default infamous 4x4 shudder

I could swore i tested this leveling kit in 4x4 when i first got it. But tonight, in heavy rain, i wanted to get a bit of a jump in the merging lane and as soon as i hit the gas, i got the shudder, started to go away once i got up to cruising speed, but it was definitely noticeable..

I thought with the bilstiens, that they kept the suspension up front a lot closer to the stock angles to help avoid this issue... Kind of upset that i ran into this problem. Going to call the shop that did the install in the morning.

Its the Bilstein 5100's set to max with 305/55/20 coopers

I did for a moment yes. Was going straight, from what ive read, the damaging effects are if you are trying to turn on pavement... Seeing as people on here have launched their trucks in 4hi at the drag strip.

The shop is saying it could be a u-joint if its onlly doing it on acceleration. Have to take it in next week to get it looked at by them.

Im fairly dissapointed in this...

I've never had the shudder problem, but I still have no idea why you guys use 4wd on dry pavement. Call me old school but thats

The only fix for the shudder is new CVs I believe!?!?. Like I said I never had the shudder, but have KORE CVs now just in case for many reasons.....I still don't notice anything. Just nice to know I want snap an axle bc of angles and over-sized tires

Like i said, the whole reason i spent the extra for the bilsteins is because they were supposed to help with the suspension angels and keep them farily close to stock. I tested the 4x4 more out of curiosity for a whole 10 seconds and it instantly did it. Ive had this set up for a few weeks now and its the first time i've discovered this issue because i never use my 4 wheel drive.

Hate to hear your having problems OP. But I'm not sure why you thought you would have close to stock suspension and drivetrain angles with a 2.8" level. The Bilstiens lift the same way as a coil spring spacer. You just get a Bilstien shock for a better ride.

I've read that before. Hate you have the issues, but its the nature of the beast with these trucks.

It scared me so I never did do a leveling kit. I jumped straight into a suspension lift. Id get the Kore CVS or a suspension lift or just drop the setting on the Bilstiens a little lower!

For now, when saving for a house, will have to just be dropping them down a bit to maybe 2.5. Dont wanna lose too much, spent a decent coin doing that between the install and allignment for it.

Big plans for this truck after the house purchase, a full suspension lift, nothing huge since i dont offroad, bigger tires, better gears and a tune. Later down the road after warranty expires and i still like the truck by then, probably some more engine work.

Gotta start small to keep the wife happy though
