Default Don't know what to do.....

I'm 16 and bought a 1998 dodge ram. I love my truck but l hate the fact that it is so scratched up and dented plus the paint on the cab is fading up and on many other spots. I'm thinking of trying to sell my truck and maybe buy another truck but not sure. What should I do?

It's up to you. If it bothers you that much maybe you should. Or you could save some money and have it painted. Then again you could live with it for a few years then buy something else after you're out of school and making some money...

I vote for live with it for at least a year or two. You'll be less stressed about its appearance and have more fun with it
My first car was all crappy and dinged up too. I sprayed it with primer with the intent of painting it but it was fine enough and you could sit on the hood and hit poles at the gas station without stressing out

Plus, you wont waste money that could be saved for that sweet next ride

I'm with Bikenut. My first car was a beat up old '74 nova. Everyone should have a beater for a first car that way when the inevitable screw up happens it doesn't hurt your wallet to badly. Do you really want to be in the crawl stage of driving and scratch or dent something nice and shiny?

You guys are 100% right. At 16, I had to put a 305 in a crappy nova I bought with no engine in it. That was my ride until it blew 8 months later. (pretty proud of myself then) Then put a 400 small block in a 1970 C10 pickup I bought (again, with no engine), which I sold to a guy that ran it for 2 years before selling it (REALLY proud then). Bottom line is- if you are a 16 year old with a working RAM truck, be thankful and fix it up to the best of your ability and spend the rest of your dough on hot chicks and BEER!!!!

Haha it isn't really a beater though it's just scratched up a lot. I could fix it up and I have a buddy who's dad does body work and all. I guess your right though cause if I did get a new car and I hit something I would be pissed. I might add u only paid a tad bit over $2,000 at an auction with American racing wheels and almost brand new Tires

Be thankful for what you've got. As long as it's in good condition mechanically, then enjoy the hell out of it, and who cares what it looks like...

Hell, tell those that try to razz you about it that you don't care what it looks like, it's dependable, and it beats the hell out of a bicycle or walking.

Once you get some cash saved up, you can get the scratches and dents fixed, throw on some paint, and you'll feel like you have a new truck.

Man you're making me reminisce!

That first car - a 1978 Honda accord with a blown engine and no weather stripping was one of the funnest cars ever! I 'traded it in' on a new(er) Prelude with 287,000 miles on it. They gave me $500 for it and called the next day to move it for them because they couldn't get it to start or run. All those old cars develop tricks to get them motivated and mine was no exception. - I was the only one that could get it to go I think they scrapped it

that little car drove from Long Beach to San Jose once a month and never let me down, as long as I had a couple quarts of oil to feed it along the way

And hey, at least you're cruising around in your own truck! When I was 16 I was cruising around town in my mom's mercury villager minivan(that was beat to hell) lol.

IMO just save up your money, I know it's hard to do. But I'm now 25 and have a 2010 Ram, a Buell, and a nice house. When I was 16 I never thought I'd be in the position I'm in now at 25.

Check this out. Guy has a beater '72 chevy Nova with a 1200hp engine in it. The ultimate sleeper. Point is if it runs good then keep it and enjoy it. If you get the body all fixed up you'll be stressing every time you park it somewhere.
