Although I agree that the stock design leaves a lot to be desired, IMHO unless you are racing every weekend and unless you have almost every mod possible, I think that putting in a new more efficient Y pipe and cross over pipe, will at best, give you very little additional performance. If you believe that by doing these mods you will start doing wheel stands and shave a full second off your 1/4 times I think you are going to be disappointed. It may make you feel better and your seat of the pants dyno will tell you you are running stronger and faster I doubt that the real dyno will back up these results. I was going to make these same changes but after talking to my local muffler shop and them telling me it would cost between $200-300 to install the new parts I just didn't think it would dollar out for me just driving on the street.

I have mine sitting at my cousins with my catback Maggie waiting for installation.
I can advise the difference in feel (if any) once installed.
I bought it for all the reasons mentioned above.

I had real dual exhaust on my last vehicle
for the best performance, even duals need a cross over pipe
it is usually done with an H pipe

the cross over on a high performance engine, is placed at the HOTTEST point in the exhaust system, usually found some where near the transmission pan, you can find this point with some HEAT TAPE,
If you are not going for the best 1/4 mile time that you can possibly get, you don't need any of this stuff

some ppl just use paint

you have an H-pipe or x-pipe problem, however instaling an H-pipe will help to equalize the back pressure. As far as where to put the H-pipe, you want to find the hottest part of the exhaust and install it there. The simplest way to find the hot-spot would be to paint the exhaust with a paint that won't resist heat and drive around for awhile getting the system nice and hot. The spot that you find to burn through the paint the fastest or the most is the hottest spot and that is the best place to install the h-pipe.

some people just want to stay slow and that's their own decision...my first Y pipe cost me all of $25 for parts an labor. i could feel the difference right off the bat. my exhaust has evolved since then, I do race, but rarely (3-4 times/yr), mostly tow and daily drive (hence my over 216k miles on odo).... remember, we're in the performance section of the forum..

Bad decision IMO. The idea of a wheel stand in our trucks is lunacy. I don't do any racing whatsoever, and I still feel that it was worth it. If you use your truck as a truck and actually tow with it then you need it to breathe freely. If you are fine with mediocrity and want a stock truck then you probably won't be doing performance mods in the first place. I'm sure someone else would be more than happy to take that off your hands. I just don't understand how you could buy a hemi and see evidence of how restrictive the stock y-pipe is and decide to do nothing about it!

It's called Cost vs Results. I don't wanna get into a piss'n match about this--it's everyone's own choice. I was just voicing an opinion. If you show me a actual dyno sheet, before and after the installation of the Y pipe only, that shows substantial increases in hp and tq then I might change my mind--till then, everyone has an opinion and I just gave mine. I'll continue to drive my "slow" Hemi and remembering that there is always someone faster.
