Default New Mods Causing Problems

Today I installed a BBK 85MM throttle body and replaced the header gasket on the drivers side (JBA headers) due to an exhaust leak. Since that I keep getting the CEL and codes P0171 & P0174. I have reset the ECM, did the ETC relearn, changed my tune back to stock and then back to the 87 oct tune. The truck will run fine the first time I drive it, but when I shut it off and turn it back on it throws the same codes. Anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to fix this?

thanks for the help

sounds like maybe a vacuum leak or bad o2 sensor or possibly a bad connection with the o2 sensor. did you have them unhooked to change the header gasket? maybe someone else can help out.

I didn't disconnect the O2 sensor to change the gaskets. I didn't even have to unbolt the header from the collector. I was much rougher when I installed the headers initially, which was the biggest P.I.T.A ever. Could the new TB be causing this? I didn't get the codes prior to installing the TB and I am getting the code for both bank 1 & 2, but I never touched the passenger side header. This is my second BBK TB. I sent the first one back because it kept throwing a code saying the idle was higher than expected.

I've heard bad thing about the BBK TB throwing codes....some people had to return them because of that reason.

On Dodge Talk there's a thread in the performance section of a recent install....

Does anyone know if a custom tune would fix the lean condition that I am seeing? I have the DSP, but I believe it will only adjust the A\F ratio at WOT and I would need it to be adjust completely.

if you have a dsp can you datalog and monitor the a/f's and let us know what numbers your are seeing? and maybe to test, throw the old one back in to see if the codes come back?

I was actually just looking for the A\F options in the DSP. I am having difficulty finding the right ones. Do you happen to know the name of the PIDS that I am looking for?
