Default Line booster

I just got back from a 4 day camping trip, had a front-end alignment done prior and new tires installed on the rear of my truck. And just for piece of mind, I had the fellas impact off the driveshaft and they checked the pinion nut, all was tight so I had them put on blue lock-tite on the outer threads and just to take it one step further, they peened the edge of the nut so it won't back off......so now I'm stoked, first camping trip of the year, truck is pulling like a champ, 4 hours into the drive and "ping", and there is the engine light, what a terrible sight. I was lucky enough to be close to the city where I bought my truck, called my dealer and they are booked solid...groan, no openings for a few days, so off to Canadian Tire I go. In and out in about an hour and a half, Turns out the code read low transmission line pressure, so when I got back to the campground I yanked the line booster. Anyone else have any issues?

Doesn't surprise me. The line booster is like the power wire, it screws up the reading to the computer. I don't know why people thing this is a good idea.

So after taking it off all is good?

All is good, with no dis-respect to others, I should have known better with something for under $50 bucks, truck performed flawlessly on the way home.

Sonnax line pressure booster. It's a resistor that installs inline with the electrical harness to the transmission. It alters the signal sent to the pcm for the transmission line pressure to trick the computer so it increases actual line pressure. The computer will end up adjusting back to stock line pressures though because it monitors it in other ways. So by installing it you get a temporary boost in line pressure(making shifts firmer).

I have seen some complain of issues just like the OP posted about though where it seems to screw up the way the transmission functions.

Oh. Thanks for the explanation though!

I have been running one for about 1,000 miles, along with a Predator, and it still shifts firm and the computer hasn't learned and readjusted.

^I'm sure if you looked at the values you would see that it has, you just don't notice it. I'm not sure if diablo gives you that capability but I can monitor desired and actual line pressures with my SC.

I have the sonnax line booster and I was thinking that my shift wasn't as firm as it was when I installed it but it now makes sense that the computer will compensate for what it is supposed to be.
