If you took them apart carefully after baking just rebake to heat the factory sealant then press and clamp the headlight back together until cool..Ive found some sealants will off gas and leave a residue on the inside of the headlight...normally I let the housing sit in the sun for a day or 2 to let them fully cure and off gas before putting them back together...

Hey that looks amazing!

If it's not a huge PITA, do you think you could snap a picture with the orange turn signal lens removed? I'm curious as to what it'd look like. I'm looking at doing something similar with mine.

Butyl would work, the downside to it is it will remain tacky as it never cures, plus if you ever had to pull them apart again (for whatever reason) it would be one hell of a mess. Pure butyl also will become a lot softer during heat cycles and if it gets hot enough, say from HIDs, you could end up with runs which could lead to leaks. That's worst case scenario though.

Yeah I think it's not legal but I think you can get orange bulbs then it's legal. My original plan was to do basically what you did, all black, but now I think I'm going to leave it all as is and just remove the amber colored lens and put in an orange bulb. I just don't think the black lights would match my chrome grille...
