Default My '06 2500 mega cab build

I decided to start a build thread to record the progress and get help and input from members on the countless mods out there. It's an '06 2500 4x4 mega cab ctd with 55k miles.
The truck was pretty much bone stock except for the spray on bed liner and nerf bars. So far I gave it a lift and new tires/wheels.

Current mods:

* Spray on bed liner
* Nerf bars
* 4.5" Fabtech suspension lift (5/28/2012)
* 18" x 9" Chrome XD Monster wheels (6/5/2012)
* 325/65 R18 Terra Grappler tires (6/5/2012)

Mods on the 'To do' list

* Tint rear glass and front door windows to match tinting on the back door windows.
* paint to match the grill (I dont mind the chrome bumpers but the grill is a bit to much)
* Fender flares. Bushwacker pocket flares painted to match
* Smarty Jr.
* Hard Tonneau cover. Patriot victory painted to match
* color match break calipers

Mods that I'm on the fence with

* Eye lids painted to match
* smoked headlights and tail lights
* grill guard
* Ram air style hood
* Gas cap cover
* In dash gps/stereo/xm
* blacking out the section between front and rear doors (after tinting)

Gonna take my time with it mainly because of funding so some of the cheaper things to do will come first. Especially after just dumping over 4k in suspension/wheels/tires.

I'm also going to ask for any help and sugestions from the experts (you guys). If there's anything that you feel would look good please feel free to let me know (even the little stuff). There's so much stuff out there that i haven't seen and don't know about yet. Thanks

Here she is the day i bought her

after the 4.5" lift (still with stock wheels/tires) Is there a way to raise just the back about one inch to get the pitch a little closer to stock?

With the lift and wheels / tires

Cheers
Bob

*editing to add/remove/change mods as the build progresses*

I like the truck, yup I do. Have always been a Cummins Diesel fan and is definitely going to be the next truck I get heh. You going to straight pipe it out the back or run stacks oooor just going to leave the exhaust alone? lol There is so much you can do with these trucks it isn't even funny. Will definitely be checking in on this build as it goes on.

Thanks for the kind words. Just picked up paint, primer and clear coat for the grill. Gonna color match it this weekend.

TY MadSoul I'm pretty fond of it myself. Cant go wrong with a Ram Hemi or diesel!
Aside from the Smarty. Performance mods are pretty far down on the list. Just throwing caution to the wind cause while the ctd motor can take the ups the tranny cant. I don't wanna supe it up so much that it forces me to buy a new tranny especially since i'm pleased with the power as is. But that could change further on down the road after all the cosmetic mods are done. Wouldn't mind it having a little more rumble

Cheers
Bob

My buddy when he bought his Cummins did three things soon as he got it home from the dealer. Straight piped the exhaust (that will definitely give you more of a rumble), heat wrapped the turbo and punched a hole in his air box (unconventional but cheap). He said doing those three things gave it a definite noticeable difference in performance. Not so much that it would mess with the tranny, but enough to put a smile on his face. Personally I would just buy a Banks intake instead of punching a hole in the stock air box, but hey if it works and is free why not lol.

You got me thinking about the exhaust. I just have to take smog checks into consideration when researching what to do with it. Plenty of time though cause right now i have plenty of mods that top it on the priority list. LOL doubt i'll be punching a hole in the CAI box though (it makes sence but i remember reading the CAI for my year was more than adequate)

Thanks Jchaney. The plan is to get the Smarty Jr and then all performance mods will be put on hold until the cosmetic type mods are done. That should give me plenty of time to figure out how far i want to go with it pony wise.

That's right you guys do have some strict emissions tests out that way don't you? That's why I like it where I'm at, no emissions test required, just inspection
