If you're trying to something like chevy used to do, you will need 2500 springs F/R and F/R axles. Beyond that I'm not sure what else, but the question is why?

well... im not exactly sure why haha. I kinda just want to make it a little more beefy. And yeah, i guess that would mean a SAS, wich would be pricy considering id have to match the rear axles/ratio/and lug pattern. well, let me ask a different question, what performance mods should i do to my truck? it is stock, other than a k&n cold air.

I don't know what you are actually trying to do
there is no way to change the towing & hauling capacity, without changing the registration to what California calls a SPECIAL CONSTRUCTION Vehicle & you would have to get it Certified as 3/4 ton

Programmer to start with. A Superchips 3815 should fit the bill here nicely. A decent exhaust system (not just a catback) will also help here. Gears will be pricey to do because you have to front and back, but those are usually the biggest bang for buck, along with a better TC. After that it's a matter of how much you're willing to spend. Head work, cam, custom tuning, bigger injectors, stroker. Lots that can be done but costs.

You would also have to get a strait axle conversion to make it legit.

I am curious about this... I have a 2001 1500 Quad Cab I know it has the towing package but ive always considered this a 1500 Heavy Half as it has stiffer front springs and more rear springs then the standard half ton. My truck also sits higher then standard stock 4x4 1500's and i know mine is a stock height
