ransram...2 questions...
1) i recently switched to a Wix filter i found while on vacation in the US..where are you sourcing them in Canada?

2) i've found that i seem to get some drainback out of the filter. since the Wix filter, ive got a nasty 2 second knock on start up i'm attributing to drain back from the filter? you notice anything like this?

maybe the wix you used is a bad one. i would change it and see if it happens again. if it does your truck doesn't like the wix. plenty of filters to choose from, don't get caught up in the brand, find one that works for you and stick with it.

1- I am using the UAP Napa Gold (which is really just a Wix filter in disguise). I get them directly from UAP Napa five minutes from my house.

2- I have changed my oil three times now and have never experienced any knocks on start up. My HEMI purrs like a kitten until I get on it, then it growls, LOL

This seems to be a topic on every forum I belong to. Which oil, which filter...
There are studies out there, the link eludes me at the moment, Amsoil and Mobil1 were rated the best oils and the Wix filter that Amsoil sells got a pretty high rating as I remember. The Mobil1 filter rated decent too. I use Amsoil in my Harleys since it lasts much longer than the crap Syn3 HD sells. But I have been using Mobil1 in the Ram, mostley since I can get deals on it from AAP. They sent me a cupon for 2 free qts and a free filter if you buy the big jug. So far so good.

I use the reuseable Oil Filter made by www.gopurepower.com during each oil change I can clean and inspect my filter and see the debris/metal stuck to the stainless reuseable filter element and filter magnets.

I've been using this same filter in all my cars and motorcycles since 2004, I've never had any issues either.

They look pretty nice but holy crap $$$$$$. Definetly a long term investment.

I use the Motorcraft FL-820S filter on my 5.7 Hemi. It's well-made and inexpensive ($4 at Wal-Mart). Also the same filter that fits my wife's Ford Escape which makes oil filter buying simple.

Wow, expensive, I like the idea, but can't see me paying 250-300 dollars for an oil filter, even if I change my oil every 6 months and pay 10$ a filter, in 12 years I will not have covered my investment. Nice to have it come apart to check for debris but you can always rip your regular oil filter apart to see whats in it.
