Question Performance chip question!!

Has anyone put the GF performance chip in their Ram? I've heard chips and programmers can mess up a vehicle, especially gas trucks. Any help is appreciated!

They do not make tuners for 2011+ 1500 gasers, Chargers, and Challengers etc. They put a really hard code in the computer that hasn't been cracked. So where ever you are seeing them for sale for the 2011-2012s it is either a lie or a miss print. Plenty of information as the horse has been more than beat on here about it. Just do a search and BAM. NAG NAG NAG NAG NAG. You can how ever if you do not mind voiding your warranty do a PCM swap if you really wan't the gains.

Welcome to the Z also! Great to have you

Chips are decent for diesel motors, long as ya go with a reputable company. Gas motors not so good though. Sadly JC is right and there is yet to be a tuner for your year of truck. There are some hopeful prospects of possibly by the end of the summer tuners will start showing up, but until then you are limited to mechanical mods to have any performance gains. Tuners aren't bad on your truck, unless of course you misuse the tuner then yea it can royally mess things up. Run a DS Trinity on my truck with a 91oct perf tune and a Trans perf tune with no issues besides a lot of whining Furd owners. All in all, stay away from chips and bide the time for a tuner. Besides there is a lot of supporting mods to dive into before the tuner is needed

Thanks for the help everyone. I wasn't planning on doing any performance upgrades any time soon, I was just wondering for now. Plenty of horses under the hood anyway

That's for sure! Once you start... It doesn't stop! These trucks are held back worse than any truck I have ever seen. Trq management holds these trucks back out of the whole as if I was tied to 15 semis driving the opposite way. Also the stupid MDS would be GREAT to disable with out having to manually shift into 6th every time I get in the truck as after my little experiment to see how much gas MDS saves in town netted me the result of IT DOESN'T. Gained a 1.04 hand calculated MPG increase with it turned off for two full tanks. An entire tank on the freeway on a little road trip I did last week showed that MDS on only gained .89 MPG difference.... It's a gimmick IMHO

And it seems like by the time you start MAYBE tuners will be out! Supposedly Chrysler is going to be selling them under the Mopar department!

it is a gimmick. lets see 4 cylinders lugging along a 4900+ lbs truck, doesnt sound apealing it has to suck in more fuel to make it work in four. so there really isnt any chang in mpg
