You mean the plenum fix? There's a permanent fix out there...

http://www.hughesengines.com/Index/p...=&partid=27091

Which is also a good time to do the Kegger Mod and trim up the TB horns. But if you do that you'll have around $200 in your stock intake...or you can spend $600 on everything you need for a real improvement...

There are no "cheap" intakes for these. Even making the stock one worth a damn is as much as a decent SBC intake.

might look into getting the 4brl m-1 intake as this is cheaper then the 2brl,,plus you can always get the adapter plate for it and run you stock throttle body- some people say you lose a little bottom end,,some say you don't

Actually, the permanent fix to the stocker is to have the plate welded. Take it to the local welding vo-tech center and get it done for free. Otherwise, the aftermarket plenum plate as mentioned. Any aftermarket replacement will be around $300 or more.

Any investment in the stock kegger is a waste of money unless that's all you can afford or there's no desire to do anything with the truck other than the absolute basics. I'd planned on modding it, buying the Hughes plate, etc but by the time you buy the bits and pieces and invest your time you're into it for a couple hundred at least. And you haven't really accomplished anything but fix a leak and make the thing look nicer(assuming one takes the time to clean it/paint it).

The m-1 intake is cheaper but it's just an intake. The Hughes flows a little better and comes as a complete set. By the time you buy what you need for the M1 you're into the same price range after doing all the leg work. These intakes don't cost any more to make than one for a SBC, but since they are all that's out there it's a sellers market.
