Cool Automatic Headlights Issue

Wondering if anyone else has had issue with this? I bought the truck in late April. About 2 weeks ago, the automatic headlights stopped working. On auto setting, they operated 24 hours a day regardless of direct sunlight. (Guess it is better than not working). As a result, can't see radio display screen. Headlights still work on manual and they turn off automatically when truck is shut down.

Took to dealer today and after running diagnostics, they said they are ordering a new sun sensor to "see if that works".

Anyone else had this issue?

I've had issues of mine not coming on when it gets dark. Got 5000 miles on it and its only worked twice. Let us know if its the sensor since I figured thats what it was.

On my 2009, the only way to have DRLs, (daytime running lights) is to have the headlight switch on AUTO & cover the dash board sensor, that is the little dome shaped thing next to the center speaker. Canadian Rams for 2009 have DRLs

I read somewhere that newer Rams sold in the USA can be programmed to have DRLs turned on

The Radio display screen has different lighting conditions settings, i believe that you go into radios MENU to find it, i reset mine a couple years ago. I seem to remember that the Default setting was way to dim during the daytime hours, now i can read it during the day & it is bright at night, so bright that it lights up my center floor console

He's not talking about DRL"S He saying the head light are on all the time. Hence radio is not as bright as it should be during the day.

Most likely the sensor on the dash is faulty.

Talking fixed

Dealer replaced the sun sensor. Seems to have fixed the problem. They had to order the part in from Florida so I just got it done yesterday.

I do like the fact that Dodge at least put in a headlight switch that allows all lights to be 'off'. My previous car, a Toyota Matrix, had no way to turn off the DRL's or auto headlamps. I finally had to research the wiring schematics and cut a wire controlling those two modules to be able to turn off the DRL's and auto headlamps.

I work on a air force base, and I arrive at work before dawn. The sentry guards appreciate it when a driver can turn off their headlights when you pull up to the gate to show your ID.

Default Auto Headlights don't work

Hello,
I just bought my truck and my "Auto headlights" are not working. 2012 Big Horn 2500. Hopefully its an easy fix. A little disappointing considering I just bought it li 30 hours ago and its the first Dodge product I've owned.
