what grade gas is recommended for 5.7 hemi ?

hi there , i have no manuals or user books that came with my truck so i am trying to find out what grade gas is recommended to use in a 2006 5.7 hemi with mds ? i tried calling different dodge dealers in my area where i live to see what they would say and every dodge dealer in the service department had a different answer for the grade of octane gas . i do not want to run the wrong grade of gas and end up doing damage to my truck so if anybody knows the correct answer i would appreciate it. thank-you

I just purchased my 08 1500 with a hemi and the manual said 87 was fine. Like you i have heard 87, 91, etc...I'm on my second tank and i tryed the 87 and it has worked out fine so far, i think the next tank i'm gonna try 91 and see if i can tell a difference.

My manual for my 11' 5.7 recommends 89.

Lol....yeh it states 87 can be used but recommends 89.

For the hemis has always been 89 recommended, 87 acceptable. 87 doesn't do particulary nice things to it, so it's probably worth the 89. If you program it, use what the program calls for. I run the SC 91, so 91-93 is what I use.

Like they said, 89 is recommended for best performance. Higher than that won't gain you anything other than a lighter wallet and more carbon buildup in the engine. 87 is acceptable but won't run as good as 89(very slight difference....may not even notice it).
