BTW, back when I was your age, all we had to put on our muscle cars were 'Cherry Bombs'. To get them broke in real quick, we'd cruise down the highway, turn the ignition off for about 5 seconds, then restart. The action of the pistons still sucking in gas would load up the chambers. The resulting fireball explosion would blow out what little packing there was in the 'mufflers'.
Haha wow thats hilarious and awesome. Sounds like a good way to break em in if you ask me. Let us know how the 24" sounds, I wouldn't doubt its what your looking for. Glad I could help.

The Silverado I traded had no mufflers, true duals from the cat can. Looks like it'll be 14's for me as I know Dodges are traditionally louder. When I bought my 07 my buddy bought a Ram and we bothe had Flowmasters installed and his truck was twice as loud as mine.

We used to warm them up then spray them down with a water hose. Had the same basic effect.

BTW, why and where did you have the "y" pipe installed?

I went with Mufflex 24" with resy's on & I think its a huge diff in sound compared to stock duals especially at idle & lower rpm's.

The fellow who installed it located it just behind the crossmember. Originally it was just in front.

If you look at the factory setup, what they did was squish two 2 1/4 (maybe 2 1/2, I forget) into one 3 inch pipe. Lots of restriction. The Magnaflo Y pipe is all open. No restriction.

He did a class A job. Welded all the joints. Even cut the left pipe right after the bend before it passes under the trans. He asked me why the factory flattened the top of the pipe there since there's plenty of room. I said I didn't know, but guys on the forum were wondering the same thing. He said that should go and it did. Cost me $120 for his labor. Cutting, bending new pipe, welding.
