Default how to: mount cab lights w/integrated turn signals

So this started as me just wanting to mount the new Chevy HD/GM style cab lights on my 2nd gen. After a guessing game on my thread for reps, gotbrains30 hooked me up with the cab lights needed, and indeepwaterblue threw in the idea of integrated turn signals on the outer cab lights. Thanks to brad12kx, the wiring diagram was created with relays. As im doing this on a second gen, ill provide most of the numbers for mounting as i would like it, and gotbrains is mounting some to his 4th gen, so once his side is done, he will be adding to this how to for 4th gen specifics

First off, this will be finished along the weekend, but i ran out of usable time today as it started raining, and no im not too fond of being up on top of my ram with it storming... so heres the progress so far.

wiring diagram created by Brad (THANKS MAN!)

i had to start this off by removing my overhead console, sun visors, pillars, and rear door plastic lock cover. this way, the headliner sags really good and gives me some playing space

next, i measured up on the roof, corner of the black trim to black trim, with a figure of 56 3/4th's, divided in half to create a center, with 28 3/8th's.

i then found the center of my middle cab light, and lined it up. from each corner of the cab light, i went up 4 inches from the front window seal. then with the cab light sitting in place, i used a red dry erase marker and traced the outline for reference. with a slim center punch, i marked all the holes for the middle light

then i began drilling with a 6/32nd bit, as thats the diameter bolt im using for mounting.

id also like to recommend having a second hand for some of this, especially the measuring. I found the wife to be useful, but she did need a bit of coaxing.

and heres were i left off... i had to tape up my mounting holes as it started raining, and covered the roof with a big a** tarp. stay tuned for more tomorrow.

I see no rain and the ground is dry. How far are you planning to play this tease!

Actually its been raining and storming since I posted this. My tarp idea failed miserably ... rain Rand inside my doors and pooled in the excess tarp, which seep out onto my seats. I revamped it and pulled them flat down the doors before the next storm rolled through

Well... there are 5 holes about 1 inch in diameter under the headliner. Spacings correct. I'd say so. Ill put up a picture of them when I continue.

if you look along the wires (overhead console lights) you can see the middle three mounts for the lights from the factory. In mine, i used the outer and center one as the hole for wires

3/8th bit makes a nice hole, and like magic.... theres daylight!

for the corner lights, i used those factory holes and drilled the 3/8ths hole for wiring, then centered the corner lights on those. 4 inches out from the door seal, and 4 3/4ths from the front window seal to give a nice curve to my lights

ive opted for rtv to seal everything up. applied to the screws, threads, in betwen cab lights and seals, and then around wires coming through the roof, so i have no rubbing wires

then i wired the middle cluster to the interior lighting fuse in the fuse panel, so they come on with the parking lights.

heres everything mounted up

and my fine helper for the day, my 4 month old lab/shepherd female puppy

her name is HEMI

That's giving new meaning to having a Dodge Ram with a Hemi. LOL

Whats with these 'Bankers Hours' when your modding?!? The last few pics clearly show plenty of daylight is left.

Lol. My days off consist of watching the kids while the wife works. Nap time is mod time. Except for today, if I don't finish, I have all night as well to get back on a mid cycle for work.

And the best part is the wife named her Hemi. My other dog is a black lab/retriever, Diesel
