That way it will adapt aggressively to your current driving style.

You will likely notice that in a short time period that you will have more and more of a challenge trying to get the ECO light to come on. I stand to be corrected, but my observation suggests that the ECO algorithm takes into account 'your' normal driving and bases it's operation partially on the 'average' MPG. I have noticed that it will never light if the real time indicator is below the triangle that represents the average. If you have been driving in a way that results in the average being the same as real time, the ECO light doesn't seem to want to light.

All I know is there is nothing ECO about a full size truck, so I see the ECO light as nothing more than a disco light show.
^THIS.

I always reset my computer the night before a Road Trip, so that when I start her back up and get her on the hwy I know she's getting the best info she can.

Well i read that the eco light can come on without being in mds mode but the mds mode will not come on unless eco mode "On" is showing . So That has been my goal . I don't care about the eco light I just care about the function of the mds . I do a lot of highway driving and need to save as much as possible . I don't need it to be a hybrid , i just need it to get 20mpg . I think I am good now that the truck computer is reset . I figure after being hot dogged around during test drives the computer needed to be reset . I love this truck . This is my second dodge truck . The last one had 275 k miles on it before i sold it . I ve had three chevy trucks since then and they have been nothing but a pos .

I'm wouldn't put too much stock in the dash lights. If you drive in a fuel efficient manner and keep your truck well maintained you will see the best results no matter what the computer says.

Case and point: I can tell when the MDS kicks in by the exhaust tone of the truck, you would think that my realtime MPG gauge should then drop in half when I have the MPG display on, but it does not.

I can honestly day I have never had a full size truck that got great mileage. I didn't really think this ram would be any better. I do wonder how the reg cab hemi does being.lighter. but.even.my friends little Tacoma only averages 15 to 16 mpg so I get a couple less so I can't complain. does a good job towing my little work trailer. glad my.09 doesn't have that eco light it drove me crazy in the 2012 qc 4.7 rental truck I had. I just wanna know how many mikes till empty and I am good.

You can just turn the eco light off...

And my quad cab 4.7 with tuner gets like 16-18 city depending on conditions and 20hwy minimum.

Well I'm getting 13.3 mpg still . I fill up once a week . I thought it would at least get better mpg than my 99 Cadillac escalade especially with mds . Weak sauce . Love the truck though

Thanks guys
LOL I mentioned doing this to my service guy and he went white, I see no reason it should be an issue. You have to unhook the electrical if you do anything like changing out a starter, changing out a battery, so why do they frown on it? I am puzzled.

Not to sound mean....but why would you buy a truck for MPG's?? It cracks me up when I see people talking about the lack of MPG's in a full size truck. Guess that's the reason I own two gas loving vehicles (both run 93 tune).
