Default Cobra's Mod Thread

I am not really big on the idea of going crazy modding my brand new truck, but I have a few things I want to get done to it this summer :P

First up is lights.

Driving down the dirt roads and trails at night out here really sucks with the rams stock lights, time to add more!

Got my Smittybilt Street bar in today, took 10 mins to install.

Now I am just waiting for pay day so I can order lights lol.

I am thinking about getting 2 PIAA 520 Xtreme White ATP lights for the middle and 2 PIAA 520 Ion Crystal Fog lights for the outsides.

I am just going to use the simple switches that PIAA supplies until I can afford a Wired HDH kit.

Other mods I want to do this summer:

Bilstein 5100 shocks
Mufflex 18"

I am sure I'll find some more stuff to do :P

Good looking ram bud....yea aftermarket lighting is really the only way to go
The light output of the stock lights are just plain terrible
I plan in adding (6) 5" hella lights converted to 55w 6000k and mounting them to my grille guard

The local shop here wanted over $340 for each light kit
Just ordered them online for under $200 each, hopefully I'll have them in a week.

6 of them! thats nuts. I guess it depends on what you need em for though, I don't think I'll ever need 6 extra lights on this truck lol.

I am thinking of finding a 2nd gen 2500 with a 5.9 to use as a beater, I'd probably load that one up with lights :P

So after seeing these bad boys in darkkights thread I have decided that I want em!

After seeing Jaron's alternating signal cab lights I decided that I wanted the HALO LEDs to do that too!

Because I only want the halos on if the park lights are on since they would be hard to see if the lows are on, (I think) my relays are a bit different from his. This is what I came up with.

Hopefully I can get this project done over the next month or so.

Yeah I know, I am slow :P

So I went outside to play with the headlights and see how they act in different conditions.

The DRLs turn off when the signal light is turned on, DOH! I thought that only happened with low beams.

So I guess I'll have to power the LEDs with a 12V ignition source.

Updated Relay wiring diagram.

Now the only problem is, what should I pull the aux (12V ignition) line from??
I have never done something like this on a vehicle before.

Just wondering about the system as a whole.

Headlights/Park Lights off - Hallo's off but flash with turn signal
Park Lights on - Halo's on and flash alternate to turn signals
Headlights on - Halos off

Does this sound right?

Ya got to love this site, just got to love it. There will definitely be reps from my end when ya get this whole light mod put in. Truck is looking good man, can't wait to see the progression of mods on it. I am sure there will be plenty of them and am sure it will be because of this site.
