Default 2002 Ram 4x4 quad cab 5.9 PMs

I just bought this truck and it has 175k on the clock, runs like a top, no issues at all.
I'm planning on doing some PMs such as
Oil change
Tranny flush and fill(New tranny sump pan with drain plug and temp probe)
Coolant flush
The rear axle was redone at the dealership so I will change the fluid in the front one
Drain and fill the transfer case
Plugs, wires, rotor, cap.
Is there anything else I should look for while I'm down there. The CV boots are in good shape and I already hit all the grease zerks.

Have you looked down into the throttle body for oil residue? I just changed my plenum gasket, and I'm just under 54k on my 02' original engine. hughesengines.com makes it. Around $120 for the new kit and I changed my tstat down to a 180 degree one too.

hey ive got same truck but mine has 223k on it now. (bought with 210k) in september of last year. anyway im looking for a new tranny pan as mine is rusted. where are you getting the new one from? does it take the same amount of fluid and sump as the factory? got a link? tranny was done last march so i should probably change the fluid as im not sure if it was ever done. thanks

oh and bw keep an eye on the timing chain gasket leaking coolant. mine leaked in the top corner intermittently sometimes worse than others. so i put a new pump on it and a new timing chain and gear kit on it while i was at it. i think all in all i spent 120 in parts. but doing the timing chain and gears while i was in there gave me that extra assurance that im not gonna have a problem in the future since it runs great now i wanna keep it that way

Talking tranny pan

I found a pan online because mine rotted too. Keep in mind, the gasket is reusable. plastic with O-rings. I can't remember where I got mine, but if I think of it, I'll repost to here.......

Default miles!

Wow you guys give me hope! LOL. My 02 5.9 just rolled 108k miles and I was wondering how long I can make her last, since she is paid off I like not having a payment. You are over 200k without any serious problems, that's awesome! Considering I only put about 6500 miles on a year I should be in good shape for awhile.

i also have a 2002 quad cab 1500 with a 5.9. I have had it since 2003 and it had 23k or so on her. It now has about 150k and she runs great. I use Mobile 1 and only mobile1 for the oil. The only issue is it tends to burn or go thru oil. The Dodge dealer back in 09 or so said it was normal. I have done a 2 inch leveling kit, new shocks, cat back exhaust, Cold air kit and a tune up.I also put 2500lb overload springs on it when i bought it because I have horses and haul hay and such. She has been fantastic with no real issues to speak of. No regrets at all. I have also done the Thermostat and trans services, axles etc..My only real issue has been breaks. Aftrer 2 sets I finally ordered slotted front rotors and Heavy duty pads and i stopped going through breaks. knock on wood i havent had to do ball joints, tie rods, starter or anything.. I even used to run 315/70/17s and still no suspension issues. Im back down to a 285 and the wife still wants them smaller.

I just bought a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9 V8, 4x4 and 190K miles. It ran great until I had the transmission flushed and now it runs horrible. I was told not to ever do that.... after I did it. You might want to ask your mechanic about that and just do an oil and filter change instead.
