Default 275/55 or 295/50

I'm trying to decide on which size to run as I get closer to buying new tires. I'll probably give the General Grabber UHPs a try and I'm going to stick with my stock 20x9 chrome clads for now. So what do you guys think? Should I run 275/55s or go with 295/50s? Could I run the 295/50s at all four corners? I'm leaning towards the 295s if it'll work b/c I'm gonna need more traction with my next set of mods but that's a thread for another day.

CHVYKLR; I'd like to see you try the 295/50-20's definitely. I believe that size tire is the same circumference as the OE 17"ers at 31.62". In other words, if your ECU is flashed for the 31.6" tire already, probably more like 31.5" if your using the Hypertech Speedo Calibrator; you won't have to worry about that reflashing thing with running the 295/50-20's. With the 275/55-20's, I think the ECU would have to be flashed for a 32" tire being right around 31.91" circumference. I'm liking the wider patch of meat on the 295/50's being around 11.61" vice the 275/55's at 10.83". Almost a whole inch of more contact patch to the ground is always a must. You might just get away with no inner fender well rub if the stars are aligned right. Sidewall heights between the two are almost identical with about 5lbs difference between them. The heavier of course being the 295/50. Sorry to be so in depth in details but my dad beat the attention to detail thing into me as a kid. Thanks pops......

thanks for the response. I have a DSP so I'll be able to reflash to either tire size. I have the stock 275/60-20s right now so I'll have to do it either way. I was also looking at the weight differences too. I think the factory Goodyears are 44 lbs. So going with the 275/55 (36 lbs) would be like dropping 32 lbs of rotational weight vs half that with the 295/50s (40 lbs).
It might not negligible but I don't know if the lower weight tire or the slightly wider tire should be priority.

I don't know how much room the 4th gens have, but I have 305's at all corners with no problems.

Please do! I'm considering those sizes for my next tire purchase. Personally, I think the 295/50 will look better on your wider 20x9 wheel. For the 20x8, the 275/55 looks more proper.
