Default 87 vs 89 octane hemifever tune?

Would their be much difference (seat of the pants feel) between the two?
Wife's getting me intune dcx for my birthday next month (bless her heart). I'm convinced by others the diablo hemifever tune is the only way to go. Anybody NOT satisfied with this setup?

I run 87 octane (non-ethanol) with his 89 octane tune. I'm highly satisfied. That's through the Trinity 1000 tuner.

Only reason I don't run higher octane is because I'm given a fuel allowance through work and we have our own pumps next door but 87 is the only gasoline octane on hand. Used to have 93 octane but it didn't generate enough revenue. Such a shame.

So theirs no negative effects running lower octane than what's recommended with his tune?
Also was the difference pretty significant? Really interested in thoughts on this!

Tell him which octane you plan to use. He'll do his best to optimize the tune for that octane. If you want an eco tune for 87, I'm sure he can get you the best result. Yes you can run 87 on an 89 octane tune, but it's not perfect. I run his custom tunes for 93 octane in my hemis, wasn't huge or massive change, but it put a grin on my face.

You never wanna run octane lower than the tune you running ever... That will lead to knocking and burn up a piston or 2.... I've gotten better results outta the diablosport trinity canned tunes. No disrespect to Sean he's great to work with but my truck just responds really good to the 91 tune with 93 in the tank. The trinity is worth the money IMO....

I run Sean's 89 tune on 87 octane 98% of the time. Granted my foot isn't in it all that often but no issues to date. As far going from stock to his tune in the T-1000 not sure about hard dyno numbers but definitely more fun to drive all around.

When you guys talk about the hemifever tune, did that come pre loaded on the programer? I got one and only see the canned tunes. I am going to put some mods on my truck so I did not want to send him all the data yet untill I get the mods on there. I know it comes with one free custom tune ($125 one) is that the hemifever tune every talks about?

Not sure about the free tune thing, but hemifever does custom tunes and it's extra..

Check out his site.

I haven't done a hemifever tune yet, but I've put in 87 with the 87 canned tune and It made the truck feel sluggish. Drove much better on 89. I just put 93 in it last weekend and it feels even better. Im going to put another tank of 93 in and try the canned tune.

I have the intune programmer that I bought through Sean that I wanted for mileage more than anything. I tried the mileage booster tune, then the stage 1 and now I'm back to stock and I noticed very little except my mileage is better stock. I pull a 12' work trailer full of tools and materials, so I'm not looking for seat of the pants, which I doubt would happen anyhow given how little it actually offers in hp increase versus the weight I pull.
I have not sent it back for Sean to tune either, just so nobody thinks I'm talking crap about Sean....I wanted to try it for mileage(I have another truck with a cummins that a programmer made 5-6 mpg better and a BUNCH of power) thinking it might respond like my 04...not going to bother messing with it anymore.
Just my experience.....

For sh@ts and giggles, I filled my tank with 89 and ran the canned "MPG Booster" tune from my Intune DCX. I usually run Sean's 89 or 91 Hemifever tune (depending on how much gas is in SoCal that day), but I've been getting noticeably worse gas mileage with his tunes. Driving with the canned tune after using Sean's tunes was like driving my grandmother's old Buick Regal...it SUCKED. I changed it back to Sean's 89 tune because the difference was that noticeable. I may get worse MPGs with Hemifever tunes, but I'll NEVER go back to stock or canned tunes.
