Default 2002 1500 4x4 auto tranny help

hey i have a 2002 1500 4x4 sport. it has 246 000 km yesterday the tranny started to act funny. it would take allot of rpms to shift allot more then usual. and when i step on it the rpms will slowly climb and then jump and like hit the rev limiter. now my question is what could cause this? its never done this befor and just started yesterday. i do have a small leak in my tranny cooler rad but other then that no leaks.
