Default 03 Ram gauge question

Just bought a cluster off ebay to temporarily replace the cluster in my truck as the check engine LED is burnt out. Yes, I know I can replace just the LED but time is an issue and I need to go through emissions. So I figured, get a replacement cluster and swap it out as needed. I know my mileage will be off a little bit but I can track it. Anyways, the damn speedo and tach needles are stuck behind the pegs.... I tried rotating the cluster and getting them to move back the other way but its not helping. Now, I know its petty as I only bought it for the check engine light. It has a 90 day warranty. Will the ODO still register or does it depend on the speedo? Should I return it? Should I rempve the clear plastic and move them by hand?
