Default Running rough

My truck starting skipping a couple months not a huge deal just a little annoying then a friend borrowed it and now it only runs smooth if its idling or to the floor. when keeping a smooth rpm above idle or decelarating it skips and backfires through the exhaust. I have changed the crankshaft sensor and the intake gaskets (wish I would have known about the hughes set) still the same Any help would appreciated

Have you clean the throttle body yet? Very sample to do and does improve performance.

Reset the ECM to get it to relearn and try it then. Unhook the positive terminal and cycle the key once to do a complete power drain. Then re-hook it and take it for a ride.

DON'T check the codes afterwards, just re-hook it and take it for a ride. PM me after you do just that.

Have you checked fuel pressure or injectors? Asd relay or fuel pump relay ? You did top end work so I think you can rule out distrib and wires and plugs. Oh did you look into O2 sensors and harness? Gm is good for running like poo when any number of those decide to go bad.

I had this problem after I changed the cap and rotor. Make sure your plug wires are ran properly. If not it causes induction and will run fine while idling. The is a tsb on it somewhere. I had it from another forum site and posted it on her and got warned. Basically the back two wires on each side can not be any closer than two inches. Good luck I spent three days working on mine til I came across the TSB.

Gms have a spark control modual in distributor that takes the place of vac advance. Wonder if that's TSB . I didn't think magnums had that.
